• Providing technical leadership within a project supporting and maintaining business critical enterprise scale applications running in midrange Unix environments
• Coaching and mentoring team members, and introduction of best practice
• Daily preventative maintenance and support of the application
• Demonstrating a creative and value added approach to troubleshooting problems (defects and errors) as they arise
• Supporting business customers providing prompt response and resolution of issues raised
• Working with the customer to derive business needs and requirements for enhancements
• Adopting and embracing a technical and process improvement approach within the project


• Third level qualification in Computer Science or an IT related discipline
• Exceptional technical skills (e.g. C++, UNIX, SQL)
• Exceptional problem solving and analytical skills
• Experience in a technical leadership role in a development and application support and maintenance environment
• Evidence of strong design ability
• Ability to analyze existing systems in the context of business needs and determine how to refine/repair/refactor them as appropriate
• Evidence of strong technical leadership, mentoring and coaching skills
• Above average communication and presentation skills with the ability to communicate at various levels
• Ability to pro-actively manage customer relationships
• Experience of contributing and influencing change at project level
• Experience of split site teams
